The network is designed to support women starting, running or growing a business in rural Perthshire or even for those who are thinking about it. It's a free event and will start with a light buffet, followed by an informal chance to meet other like-minded women, meet some of the GrowBiz team and hear from our inspirational speaker, Shelagh Swanson.
Aberdeen-based Shelagh Swanson is a fully fledged member of Scotland’s creative industries, an artist with a clear commercial vision
From her Market Street studio Shelagh showcase’s her stunning paintings and fused glass pieces, creates commissions to order, and provides regular classes for novice glass-makers.
Shelagh’s studio reflects her own drive and vision, combining commerce and creative arts.
However, art was an unexpected direction for this northern lass to follow. Brought up on a farm halfway between Thurso and Wick, Shelagh broke the family farming mould when she went south to Aberdeen to study painting at Gray’s School of Art.
"My story is a realistic one, one that I hope many women can relate to – I dared to follow my passion and it worked – I hope that when people hear my story they’ll be inspired to think, ‘If she can do that, why can’t I?'”
Shelagh is a Womens Enterprise Scotland (WES) Ambassador and more can be found on her website: https://www.shelaghswanson.com/
