![]() BLOOM & COMMUNITY GROUP Come and join in the fun of helping Coupar Angus' group keep the town's award-winning attractive appearance at its best. There are different ways to help: - Joining a work party a morning or evening a week tidying up flower displays, weeding and clearing litter, etc - Helping to run community fund-raising events such as the Charity Shop, coffee mornings, ceilidhs, etc, or contributing home baking - Supporting the work with administrative or horticultural skills Pride of Place, known locally as 'PoP', works to improve the general appearance of the town and park through floral displays and litter picks. Working with the local PKC council, the local school, and local groups it seeks to raise environmental awareness and the general status of the town, and in the last few years has twice won 'Best Large Village in Britain' awards from Britain in Bloom, and the top award from Beautiful Scotland for its work. Comprising a team of local volunteers that includes some with expertise in horticulture as well as many with just enthusiasm and dedication, it not only does the practical work involved but also fundraises to support that, including running a charity shop periodically, sourcing grants, and running family ceilidhs and coffee mornings. Local businesses also provide sponsorship. Work parties are organised periodically depending on the seasonal needs. If you live locally, you can help by joining in the practical work, or by helping with the fundraising events, or just by supporting the latter by attending. Come and have fun with the 'PoPpers'.
